I'm a born and bred NuYoRican Afro-Latina from the Lower East Side. I've worked in nonprofits, higher education, and ministry most of my life. I'm a mom of two very different boys — Sam and DJ, my special needs angel who transitioned to heaven — and a wife of 36 years to Rev. Hiram Ríos.
I embody the spirit of resistance against the entrenched societal and ecclesial norms that have long dictated a narrow path for women — pushing back against the expectation to reach high, but not too high. In every sphere I seek to disrupt the status quo, leveraging my voice to carve out spaces where women are heard and empowered to lead and inspire.
