Examining a minister’s identity rather than their actions is common when evaluating their ministry. However, the call to ministry must be seen as a call to identity as well as practice, based on the life and ministry of Jesus as well as the gifts of the Spirit.
— Dr. Rios

Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Ríos

I’m a born and bred NuYoRican Afro-Latina from the Lower East Side, and I now live in the Sunshine State in Miramar, FL. I've worked in nonprofits, higher education, and ministry most of my life.

I'm a mom of two very different boys (Sam and DJ, my special needs angel who transitioned to heaven on 9/22/22) and a wife of 34 years to a most fabulously supportive husband, Rev. Hiram Rios who I met in church as a teen.

I am always seeking to learn and love to share my knowledge with anyone who will listen. I have a passion for many things, but my top few are anything related to the church, leadership, biblical justice, and women.

As a self-proclaimed bug in the matrix, I embody the spirit of resistance against the entrenched societal and ecclesial norms that have long dictated a narrow path for women. My journey is a testament to challenging the silent seats and subdued voices that tradition often reserves for us, pushing back against the expectation to reach high—but not too high. In every sphere of life, I seek to disrupt the status quo by leveraging my voice, actions, and presence to carve out spaces where women are heard and empowered to lead and inspire. My narrative is one of defiance and determination, a continuous quest to redefine what is possible, refusing to be confined by the invisible ceilings placed above us by man, not God. Through this revolution against conventional expectations, I aspire to illuminate a path for others, demonstrating that the only limits we adhere to are those we accept.

This site represents many of my interests and passions in one place.
